Writing my own stories has been a dream and goal of mine for many years. In fact, I was writing my own stories since I could read, and remember cherishing a number of typewriters as a child, as well as numerous gifted notepads and of course all of my wonderful books. They were my favourite present!
If I could go back to my youth, knowing what I know now, I might have focused more on my writing and gone to college and university to pursue a career as an author then. Alas, that is not where life took me, but I'm still here now, a (self) published author, and can't regret the adventures I've had in between!
The Salvation Project is not the first book I started writing as an author, but it was a story that was itching to come out of me. The genre has always been a love of mine, from my first read of a John Christopher book in secondary school.
Like doubtless many, many others, I was feeling a growing despair at the plight of the planet, and how it seemed nobody was really doing anywhere near enough to fix the mess we've got ourselves in. Plastic everywhere. Pollution. Flooding. Droughts. Throw-away culture. De-forestation. The Salvation Project was borne out of a desire to fix it all. It's been hugely therapeutic, and I actually have a much more optimistic view of the world and humanity for having finished it. I hope whoever reads it gets a similar feeling of hope, or at the least enjoys the story and the characters within it.
The city of Greenwall is actually loosely based upon Oxford, having grown up and now living not too far from the beautiful, diverse, sprawling city.
My next story is based much further afield! Very much in progress but not at sharing stage yet. Keep checking for updates!
Amelia's story may not have finished yet either. Watch this space....
